Filipina Post Doctoral Fellow in Germany donates her Prize to CAS, CLSU

Dr. Carolyn Vargas, a Filipina biophysicist donates her prize voucher amounting to USD250 worth of Eppendorf products to the College of Arts and Sciences, Central Luzon State University during the awarding ceremony for best paper competition in Bangkok, Thailand on June 10, 2010. Dr. Vargas who is doing her postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Kaiserslautern in Germany won the 2nd prize for best poster paper from among the 42 entries from Brazil, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia and Chile. The 1st and 3rd best poster papers went to the entries from Thailand and Brazil respectively.

A young woman of substance with a compassionate heart, Dr. Vargas voluntarily gave her prize to CLSU in order to inspire young researchers to be more immersed in research activities in search of innovations and breakthroughs that address problems in the rural areas of the country.

The Symposium on Networking and Technology Transfer which was held from June 7-12, 2010 in Montien Riverside Hotel, Bangkok was organized by InWent –Capacity Building International, The Thai Red Cross Society and the Helmholtz Research Center for Infectious Diseases. It gathers the 180 alumni of InWent on biotechnology and technology transfer from South East Asia and Latin America who underwent training in the different parts of Germany in the last decade.
