CAS and CLSU-SAJAC hold the 2nd CLSU at Japan Friendship Week

The College of Arts and Sciences through its Socio – Cultural Affairs Program, the Department of English and Humanities and the CLSU Society for the Advancement of Japanese Arts and Culture (CLSU_SAJAC) in cooperation with the Embassy of Japan in Manila successfully organized the 2nd CLSU – Japan Friendship Week last August 19 – 22, 2013. The holding of the said week-long activity coincided with the celebration of 40 years of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation. This activity was endorsed by the Embassy of Japan in Manila through Mr. Kiyoshi Takeuchi, the Director of Japan Information and Culture Center. A seminar on how to apply to the Japanese Government Scholarship Program was facilitated by Prof. Dr. Renato G. Reyes, the incumbent Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Jerwin R. Undan, the Research Coordinator of the Department of Biological Sciences and Prof. Dr. Tsutomu Fujihara, a consultant of the Philippine Carabao Center. Drs. Reyes and Undan are former Japanese Government scholars while Prof. Fujihara is a retired professor of Shimane University. To arouse the interest of the academic community on Japanese arts and culture, the CLSU – SAJAC through their faculty adviser, Ms. Marjorie N. Manlulu, implemented the other activities such as Japanese film showing, manga drawing contest and chopsticks challenge.
